John Rettie

John Rettie wrote his first road test in his native England in 1971, when he worked for a specialist auto enthusiast magazine. Then, as a freelancer, he traveled the world extensively between 1973 and 1986 covering new vehicle introductions, racing and the auto industry. Following that he worked at J. D. Power and Associates, which tracks vehicle quality, for nine years as an editor. For several years he also wrote a weekly road test column for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group. Since 1997 John has been a freelance writer and photographer, contributing to numerous magazines and web sites. He is a member of the North American Car and Truck of the Year jury and resides in Santa Barbara, California.
