NCTD contributor Jeff Vettraino is Senior Editor At Large, Autoweek magazine and Autoweek.com. He writes about every aspect of the auto business, including racing, the industry, car culture and new products.
Born and raised in Detroit, Vettraino began his writing career as crime reporter in Sacramento, California, and the San Francisco Bay Area. After a three-year stint in Los Angeles, he was lured back to the Motor City as Features Editor for Autoweek. He currently lives near Detroit and travels frequently (particularly in winter). Pursuit of the ultimate car story has taken Vettraino to six continents, from Siberia to the Sahara desert, the fiords of New Zealand, the Gold Coast of Australia, Hokkaido, Japan, Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis, Monaco, Suzuka, and most of the better-known race tracks in between. Vettraino has contributed to a range of national publications and driven and evaluated nearly every significant new vehicle launched since 1990.
He graduated from the University of California, Davis, and was enrolled in graduate study at U.C. Berkeley when he took his first writing job. Vettraino has attended several driving schools and won national awards for news, feature and automotive writing.
