Editor's Pick: Toyota Corolla
The Toyota Corolla remains my choice for reliable, comfortable transportation. Starting at $13,570, the Corolla boasts quality construction and strong acceleration performance. The top-line Corolla LE ($15,480 with an automatic) comes loaded with features and is my recommendation for women on the go who want a comfortable, quality sedan at an affordable price. The cabin seems particularly well suited for shorter drivers. Order the leather interior and you'll think your Corolla LE came from the Lexus dealership. Be sure to get the optional anti-lock brakes and side-impact airbags.
Other top choices:
Looking for cheap wheels? Take a look at the Chevrolet Aveo. Chevy's entry-level car, the Aveo starts at just $9,455. However, I recommend stepping up to the LS ($12,045), which gets power windows and door locks and other conveniences we now take for granted. Built by Korean automaker Daewoo, the Aveo is a surprisingly good car and a good alternative to a used car. Aveo comes in three-door hatchback and four-door sedan models.
